In January 2007 the first Elevator Pitch Night took
place. The idea is sim-
ple, a competition for start-up
companies and businesses to present a product or service
in English in three minutes or less. James Parsons had
the idea for the competition which has spread across
Germany and to other countries.
In September 2000, independent language schools with
branches in 15 cities across Germany formed an Alliance
called A.S.S.E.T. (The Associ-
ation of Select Schools
for English Training). The following years have seen
even higher standards being set for professional Business
English training. ICC was one of the founding members.
Early in 2001, Go! International was launched by ICC.
SMEs from Sax-
ony took part in a special series of workshops
over 5 months. Topics in-
cluded Telephoning, Presenting
and Negotiating. At the end of the course, the participants
went on a language and business trip to England to put
the theory into practice. Go! International takes place
2-3 times a year with a week long excursion to Dublin.
Companies interested in the Irish market can use the
opportunity provided by Go! INTERNATIONAL to take a
closer look at the business potential.
From November 2003 until April 2004 ICC was one of the
official supporters of Leipzig’s bid to host the
2012 Summer Olympics.
