ICC Director James Parsons founded the English
Business Club Leipzig in March 1999. His
aim was to offer his language students an additional, much more
intensive language
training was possible in class. He wanted
to establish a platform where you could converse in English about
busi-
ness topics in a
relaxed atmosphere. 40 guests took part in
the first EBC event (March 1999), which was about “Economic
development in Leipzig”.
That’s how it all started…
A lot of work and effort then went into organising one EBC
meeting every two months, and more and more people joined these
events. 2001 saw around 80 participants regularly at each EBC!
An increasing number of people also attend the annual Elevator
Pitch Night. In 2004 we welcomed a then record-breaking 130
guests at our competetion night.
Two years later we celebrated the sixth
Elevator Pitch Night in the DaCapo together
with over 170 guests.
